I would like to express my gratitude to the committee for the invitation to judge at your Championship Show. It was an honour that I will never forget. I would also like to thank you for your generous hospitality and applause especially to all my decisions on the day. As you probably guessed I take the Staffordshire Bull Terrier very seriously and can only judge what’s before me.

At this stage I normally put what faults that I find down so that folks can see what I am looking for, however, as a breeder myself I am aware of the basics which is type and temperament, which I found in abundance. In my opinion the head is the most important. The description of the head as follows; should be powerful in its size, but size is not important but in balance with the rest of the dog. What I am looking for a square skull deep as its broad roughly 2 to 1 with a short muzzle equally deep and broad with tight flews (lips), and flat under eye giving a chiselled for-face. The standard calls for a distinct stop giving the wonderful, kindly expression, but however there are dogs that have a long sloping stop with oval eyes this is referred to as a foreign expression and is highly undesirable, moreover once you get in your line, its difficult to get out, we have to be aware of this and take care to prevent this form of contamination creeping into our breeding.

The standard also calls for broad front not wide well muscled with ribs to match; narrow fronts are highly undesirable; great care should be taken when breeding; for instance, the width of the head is most important as it is good guide to the width between the legs at chest/brisket level, open your hand holding it out with your fingers extended palm upper most with your thumb tucked in at the side when you run it along the brisket between the front legs at elbow level, this is a useful guide and gives the front the required rectangle look: from elbow to pasterns with bone as straight as possible where the feet turn out a little, giving on the whole a square balanced look and ready for action.

I had no problems with either height or condition, what ever you are doing keep it up, but be aware of the points that I have made at heading, reminder there should be a lot of dog in a small compass not bully, but athletic.

Baby puppy is something that I do not come across very often, so I chose the ones that I believed showed the greater promises, however they were all munch-able, adorable, and probably the only time in their life span, innocent.

I, like most, really enjoy the puppies for reasons that I stated earlier and I was not disappointed, the future of the breed is assured and a credit to you all. My overall description of the baby puppies will be a little vague because there is no way that I can predict their future.

B.O.B, Anderson, Stoneheart Walkawyteline ( Imp Aus ), D, fitted my ideal dog, broad head strong deep through, short powerful muzzle highly developed neck slightly arched and well muscled down into superbly laid shoulders impressive front elevation superbly muscled as described earlier straight well boned front, excellent feet thick pads very important. His profile did nothing but excite me as everything I looked for on the day was there, highly developed rib cage deep into his brisket, superb rotation (depth of upper arm in balance with length of leg. i.e. withers to elbow, elbow to ground should be equal) this could be clearly seen when he was on the move with his forward reach, level top line showing a great tuck strong loin short coupled, extremely powerful hind quarters, filled up to bursting point with hard muscle helping with his drive as he moved away, he took charge of the ring and dared me to look else where, it was my pleasure to award him Best Dog and B.O.B, mind you he didn’t have it all his own way as the reserve pushed him hard for the placing which is some thing I like. I could say as much about him as the BOB.

New’s, Rojeme MC Hammer, Strong and powerful in all quarters well balanced dog excellent neck and for-quarters highly developed rib deep into his brisket, level; top line, short coupled, powerful hind quarters displaying promise of more to come, excellent drive, I had great pleasure in giving him his awards, Reserve Best Dog..

Best Bitch and Reserve B.I.S, Byers, CH Pitshaft Mystic Miss, was superb in type though carrying a little too much Christmas pud, handled, and moved to catch ones eye. Strong head with the grandest of expressions, chiselled for-face, punishing jaw excellent front elevation broad and deep into her brisket, clean bite powerful neck excellent shoulder placement, tremendous rotation and forward reach her profile just continued on from the front, fine rib, and top line short coupled powerful quarters pleasing movement.

My Reserve Best Bitch was Francis’s Ourgang Beenroundthblock (Imp Aus), its such a pity that BB was in such great form as Res B.B pushed her hard for her placing, in many ways equal in type strong head with the correct expression, tremendous neck widening out at the shoulders excellent placement down into the grandest of fronts ample straight bone correctly padded feet, deep into her brisket, fine profile short coupled, but not cobby, excellent drive on the move.
